Global electric vehicle sales growth

Global demand for electric vehicles continued to rise in July, marking the fifth consecutive month of year-over-year growth.

Global EV sales reached approximately 1.85 million vehicles in July 2026, an increase of 9% compared with July last year, according to data from Benchmark Mineral Intelligence reported by Reuters.

11.5 million electric vehicles were sold globally during the first seven months of 2026.

Europe Leads Global EV Growth

Europe has become the main growth engine for the global electric vehicle market, supported by stronger demand and government incentives in several countries.

While European sales continued to rise, China and North America experienced weaker performance during July.

China Remains a Major EV Powerhouse

Despite softer domestic demand, Chinese manufacturers continue to play a major role in the global EV market. Companies such as BYD and other Chinese brands are increasingly relying on exports to support growth.

Why This Matters

  • Global EV sales rose for the fifth consecutive month.
  • July sales reached about 1.85 million vehicles.
  • Year-to-date sales reached 11.5 million.
  • Europe remains the strongest growth region.
  • China remains the world's largest EV manufacturing hub.

The latest figures show that electric vehicles continue to expand globally despite significant differences between regional markets.
